Coconut trees need a lot of sunlight and well-aerated soil to flourish. They can be found growing in aerated sandy soil near the shorelines, as they are not affected by the salinity of the seawater. They grow well in tropical regions where the climate is hot and humid and has abundant rainfall.
They are grown in abundance in India, Sri Lanka, the Hawaiian Islands, Polynesia, Philippines, Malaysia, South America, Brazil, Florida, and California.
